One prepare outcome of this political debacle on the part of Britain was its highhanded approach towards things based on the false perceptions created by the Loyalists. This very isolation of Othello in the society is vividly depicted in his own words in the last scene of the play. While killing himself, once he repeats how he killed a Turk with martial prowess Set you down this, / And say besides that in Aleppo once, / Where a malignant and a turbaned Turk / roll a Venetian and traduced the state, / I t ook by th throat the circumcised dog / And smote him thus. (Shakespeare V.ii.341-354) At the said(prenominal) time, by comparing his self-killing with the killing of a Turk, he powerfully articulates the fact that he will invariably remain an outsider and an alien to the society. Deep down in the heart, he suffers from a type of unfavorable position complex which, on one hand, blindfolds him from Desdemonas virtue and purity, and on the other hand, keeps him obsessed with the attention of world deserted by his love, Desdemona, a symbolic platform of passion and status in the society. Whereas the psychological imperfections lie in Othellos circumstance-driven psychic mould, it has successfully been played on by Iago. end-to-end the whole play, Othello remains calm, polite and respectful. He is neither rude nor offensive to Desdemonas father, Brabantio. up to now being bald-faced General his self-control is praiseworthy. When Iago tries to instigate a brawl by informing Othello of Brabantios armored stretch to his court, he remained calm and responds in the following manner Keep up your bright swords, for the dew will consume them. / Good signior, you shall more command with years / Than with your weapons. (Shakespeare I.ii.59-61). He shows the highest revere to Brabantio. He assures him that he is respectful because of his age. Othello is never a violent man by nature. If he were, he would behave otherwise, in other words, violently. Even in the face of Branbantios racial insult, Othello retains his decency If she wasnt bound in chains of magic, / Would a maidservant so tender, beautiful, and happy, / So opposed to marriage that she shunned / The wealthy, curled

The film made fun of a case that is taken quite seriously in our era and I am sure that just the like me, those who are aware of the need to be politically correct, gender sensitive, and same - sex friendly give also find the way that the homosexuals were treated and portrayed in the film. The cross-dressing and homosexuality in the movie is compete for laughs. It made fun at the homosexuals of the time and regarded them as nothing but funny people who should not be taken seriously. I understand that the film was made during an era when homosexuality was a proscribed topic and no self respecting male would ever be caught dead admitting to being a homosexual. However, I do not believe that these closeted individuals deserved to have their sexual pref erence ridiculed in this manner. It was insensitive and hurtful, nevertheless if the homosexuals of the era never admitted to it.This film shows us how ofttimes Hollywood and our society has changed over the decades. What our grandparents thought of as funny is now regarded as politically incorrect and gender insensitive. But it also asks us to conceptualise about how we treat the homosexuals in our own era. Perhaps we are giving them alike much respect and credit where it is not really due?Think about it, this films proves that homosexuals of their era did not think much of their rights as gay people and simply lived their lives according to the unspoken code set about by society at the time. The Manifestation of Race, Ethnicity, and Faith in British Education Literature review

The Manifestation of Race, Ethnicity, and Faith in British Education - literature revaluation ExampleSince the 1980s, the leading cultural fundamentalist group of the New Right in the united Kingdom has not just disparaged and ridiculed such policies, but has aimed to enforce its own chauvinistic and racist office of British national identity on Englands and Waless National Curriculum (Pathak 2008). Antiracist educators in the UK support not taken seriously the concept of new racism introduced by Barker (1981 as cited in Cashmore & Troyna 1990). As far as the concept is considered at all in antiracist research, it is merely cited and its value to pedagogy seems never to have been taken into account. This literature review pull up stakes provide a brief review of literature on identity politics and multiculturalism, specifically concerning three of the most debated resolutions in the UK (1) race, (2) ethnicity, and (3) faith in education. The author chooses the three abovementi oned issues beca hire of their persistent presence in the British society. These three issues are the major factors that dictate several social groups in a disadvantaged position, specifically in education and long-term calling (May & Sleeter 2010). As stated by Korn and Burzstyn (2002), access to wealth, influence, full involvement in economic, social and political life, or what may be referred to as complete citizenship, greatly relies on education. This is particularly factual for ethnic nonage groups. Without a practical educational attainment they confront the double threat of exclusion and inadequate qualifications. Those who cutpurse out from school and then fail to acquire additional training or education, are habituated to become part of a marginalised group with potentially detrimental repercussions for race relations where in conventional perceptions about Asians and African-Americans (Mitchell & Salsbury 1996) are established. The first part of the literature review will discuss the distinctions between race, ethnicity, and faith. It will refer to the diverse definitions given by several authors. The second section will discuss the issue of race, ethnicity, and faith in the British education system. The issue of multiculturalism in education will take priority in this literature review. Distinctions between Race, Ethnicity and Faith In this literature review, a brief description of the belief of race, ethnicity, and faith, as well as the distinctions among them, will be discussed. The concept of ethnicity is quite new. Before the 1970s in that location was hardly any discussion of it in anthropology works and literature, even a mention of its definition (Faas 2010). former to the Second World War, the word tribe was the chosen word for primitive societies and the word race for coeval societies (May 1999). Because of the strong connection between the ideology of the Nazis and the concept of race, the word ethnicity eventually succeeded ra ce in Europe and the United States (Spalek 2007). The discourse on ethnicity is confounded by a diversity of associated concepts applied to realize comparable trends, like nation, race, minority, and tribe. Several researchers and scholars apply these concepts synonymously while others use them as distinct term (Spalek 2007). Nevertheless, the connection between race and ethnicity is complicated. Even though there is much continuity they are different notions. For instance, Pierre van den Berghe defines the term race as a specific classification of ethnicity that makes use of genetic attributes as an indicator of ethnicity (Cashmore & Jennings 2002, 122). Although the connection between the two notions is more complicated than the above definition, his description is quite accurate (p. 122). British scholars normally exclusively attribute ethnicity to

According to Parent (12), the only animated devices in the 19th Century included phenakistoscope, zoetrope, and praxinoscope that gave an illusion of motion from a succession of many drawings. The use of Phenaskiscope failed to lead to the emergence of the cinematography, which included a projector, camera, and a printer, on a champion machine that allowed moving images to be displayed effectively on a screen. This was invented by the first conductmakers, Louis Lumire, and Augusta in 1894. The initial animated projection or screening was fashi aned in France by Reynaud Charles-mile, who was a experience teacher in France (Parent 12). Reynaud fashioned the Praxinoscope in 1877 and then the Theater Optique in 1888. In 1892, Reynaud publicly project his first animation known as Pauvre Pierrot in Paris. Consequences of deception in romantic relationships Dissertation

Consequences of illusion in wild-eyed relationships - Dissertation showcaseWhen falsehood is detected, negative emotional reactions result, particularly when the lies exposed are considered to be signifi mintt. In Coles (2001) study, 256 individuals (128 couples) were used as the research sample. They were asked to complete questionnaires pertaining to their provides and their own communication behavior. The aim was to delimit the link betwixt the extent of interpersonal communication and the practice of illusion. Moreover, the study examined the roles played by causes for deception such as reciprocity, avoidance of punishment, or deceptive fulfilment of the lack of intimacy in their amatory relationship. The use of deception is more frequently found where relational characteristics are at lower levels. Thus, deception appears to be used as a method for coping with relational problems, and greater use of deception is considered to be an indicator of overall relational distre ss (Cole, 2001, p.125). Coles (2001) research study excessively obtained certain results related to the outcome of deception. Primarily, the best relational outcomes arise from couples avoiding deception while at the identical time trusting each others fidelity. However, when it becomes known that deception is being practised by one of the partners, there are negative outcomes for everyone involved. When there is a little suspicion, the other partner whitethorn be tempted to engage in deception too, thus sending the relationship into a downward spiral. This results in increasing deception by both the individuals, greater suspicion between partners, and progressive deterioration of the romantic relationship. The above study could have been made more useful through a greater centering on the outcomes of deception among the couples where deception was found, thereby providing evidence based results. The research study would need to report over a longer period of time, to determine how each couple who had experienced deception between them, fared with the passage of time. This is because some couples may reconcile, while others may break up the romantic relationship permanently. In romantic relationships, fidelity is a serious concern for both sexes. Deception by one of the partners tail assembly have devastating results on the relationship. When the infidelity comes to light, the betrayed partners feelings of being let down can give rise to unpleasant emotions including depression, anger, self-reproach and jealousy (Shackelford, Buss and Bennett, 2002, p.299). Infidelity remains as the approximately serious cause for the dissolution of a relationship leading to divorce, and breaking up of the relationship is resorted to as the most common solution. On the other hand, not all couples break up their relationship because of a partners infidelity. Some individuals try to find out all the details from their unfaithful partner to determine the nature and

Dietary(Nutritional) recommendations for Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid Gland) - Essay ExampleBoth deficiency and excess of iodin are bad. Was Jesus Like Adam Before or After the Fall Research Paper - 1

Was Jesus Like Adam Before or afterwards the Fall - Research Paper ExampleEach of the positions weighs greatly especially if one was to go by presentable evidence each side would produce. However, in the midst of this quagmire, Christians should not divorce their eyes and perception from the book of Ephesians 4 21, we should not depend not only our understanding of the work of Christ exactly also our understanding of the way of life expected from each of us as we seek the rightfulness that is in Jesus1. As a result, this research adopts a relatively divergent path from the ii positions and postulates that the spirit of Christ is both gayifested by fallen and un-fallen nature of Adam. The un-fallen nature of Adam is characterized by destitute and un-separatedness from graven image, which Christ has. On the other hand, fallen nature of Adam is characterized by physical strength, mental power, and clean worth, which again Christ can be associated with2. Nature of Adam before t he fall The bible describes the earthly concern God created and placed in the land of Eden as one created in Gods image. This firearm was Adam and as an image and spiritual creature of God, Adam possessed the image of God, which make him to remain connected to God. Adams lord state was one of a infractless man who had favor from God. The sinless nature of this man was manifested through his purity and holiness, which made him to have an assured fraternity with God and at the same time, beloved by God3. Adam, in this state, was perfect and righteous. Adam in his overlord state is given noble powers by God as the head of earthly family who was to represent God and rule over other creatures. In this sense, the original Adam had Gods gift of well-balanced mind, he was perfect in his being and constantly in harmony with God. At the same time, his thoughts were largely pure and his aims had an element of holiness The notion of the image of God and Sin The sinless nature of origina l Adam is what God had wished man to live. The image of God (Adam) was to remain pure, was to remain perfect, and exhibit no zest to sin. The sinless state was to put Adam in constant and unlimited communion with God in a special and privileged way as compared to other creatures. In other words, the sinless man was to remain representative of God glory and heritage. Adam obedience in God was to be uncompromised and this is what was necessitate of him. Nevertheless, Adam profaned this sinless nature when through temptations became sinful. Adam through devils temptations became froward to God, pervert and selfish. Adam became weakened as a result of committed sin and he subsequently became a victim of devil, unable to stand fast the power of evil4. The special connectedness of Adam and God was weakened, communication violated and closeness disrupted. As a result, Adam became captive to Satans evils, unable to resist and hence it needed intervention of God to rescue His image (Ad am). Adam and Eve committed sin and this was to become permanent transgression human being can be associated with especially with regard to consequential effects. Angel M. Rodriguez observes that Adams actions of sins became the fountain source in which human disasters and troubles emanated due to angered nature of God5. Punishment for Adam and Eve became an appropriate avenue God displayed His displeasure with human race and then the aftermath of this punishment befell the human race. Sin therefore became

During the time, Michael Sears was the CFO and Darleen Druyun was the corporate vice president. Darleen decided to retire earlier from the Air force as a Number 2 acquisition executive. The beginning of the events that transpired was sparked by Darleen requesting Sears for jobs for two of family members. Darleen allocated a rationalize to Boeing go forth of the appreciation for the company for offering her and her two family members. This was seen as non only unprofessional and breach of codes of bearing just now also a violation of established legislation. From the viewpoints of the participants the cost of this conflict could be seen both in terms of economy and development of the organization. It should be noted that the contracts were awarded not on the basis of merit but as a result of paying back for a favor done. This could have detrimental economical impacts to the company. This conflict had the potential of bringing down the company since the employees were not picked on the basis of their qualifications for the jobs they were expected to perform. The tax deduction of this is that the employees could not be trusted to discharge their duties with the professionalism and dedication deserved. This conflict was resolved in court. Since it was a enumerate of breach not only to the professional codes of conduct but a matter of contravention to the contract law, the matter was brought before the court. Since both the participants were guilty, Darleen was sentenced to nine months imprisonment because of awarding the contract not out of qualification but gratitude because she and her two family members were given jobs by the company. Negotiation Situation Essay Example for Free

Negotiation Situation EssayIn the dialogue of a mortgage refinance, you can run into legion(predicate) different types of situations that you have to be prepared for. How we interact during a negotiation can make or break an agreement. Successful use of communication tools and preparing yourself to handle personalities will lend to the outcome.Analyzing the Roles of CommunicationIn this situation the initial state of the negotiation was not moving forward in a positive direction. The bank was dealing with many customers with mortgages that were months behind cod to the economic crash at the time. We were one of those affected the construction boom took a turn for the worse and work s small(a)ed down. Although we kept in contact with our bank regarding our situation, they were not willing to negotiate new terms to our agreement. As a kin owner you never want to get behind on your payments, so we continued to make incomplete payments. The bank continued to accept the partial payments, yet didnt want to work with us to appraise our situation. Discussion does not mean fighting and shouting, instead it is simply the exchange of ones ideas, thoughts and opinions with for each one other. One needs to have excellent communication skills for a healthy and an effective discussion. (Role of Communication in Negotiation, 2012) The bank acted with diplomacy and tactfulness. After speaking with realtors and obtaining consultations from acquaintances, we wind for the bank to take action, we had no choice just now to stop paying the mortgage. We knew at that moment that it became a game of the bank vs. the homeowners. The way you communicate varies fit the formality of the situation. (Key Aspects of Communication in Negotiation) By making partial payments, the bank was content with us. We were getting but behind, and incurring penalties towards our mortgage. Taking action did get the attention of the other party. The impact of the communication, made the bank r ealize they needed to have more meaningful conversations with us. We finally were up to(p) to alter their perceptions and expectations concerning the situation, relationship and outcome.Through many discussions with the bank, we came to an agreement to attempt to sell the house this way to rid of foreclosure and or a short-sale. The mortgage payments were flash-frozen during this period. We knew we were treading water, since the housing market was at a virtual standstill. After exhausting conversations with the bank, we were at the point where we were passage to have to walk away from the house. Our emotions at this point, were wearing thin. This process was taking months, and also taking its ships bell on our patience with the bank. We wanted to be responsible for our decisions, but we were being forced to make a decision that would hurt our credibility for the future. Our unassumingness was our most important personality traits exhibited in this negotiation. We had to show our sincerity for an effective negotiation. We never took the situation casually. In the eleventh hour of negotiations, the bank was willing to refinance with a co-signer. Luckily, our relatives were willing to assist, and were kind enough to co-sign. The bank was very cooperative and we were moving forward in a positive way.Analyzing PersonalityFailures and distortions in perception, cognition, and communication are the paramount contributors to breakdowns and failures in negotiation (LewickiSa on a lower floorsBarry, 2005). Negotiators use education to challenge the other partys position or desired outcomes or to undermine the strong point of the others negotiating arguments. Even in the simplest negotiation, the parties take a position and then present arguments and facts to obtain that position. As the homeowners, we argued to gain terms that were within our reach to be able to afford the home and avoid a foreclosure. The bank had a different set of terms, that would stretch our ability to make ends meet, and we had to stand buckram with our decision to adhere to our end goal. For us, our personality in this situation varied. At times we were very cooperative, as was the bank. But at times, the bank exhibited an aggressive behavior, and made us think we only had one survival of the fittest to explore. The bank exhibited a power position, to intimidate and instill fear. As homeowners, we were emotionally attached to the home. We knew that we had to remove our emotions, and address this as a business deal. That was difficult. We were able to neutralize our emotions, and handle the situation in the most master way. Personalities in such a high-stake situation can get intense. We viewed the bank as goliath and us as David. The bank was responsive, but we found when we got upset and put them under pressure, the bank became uncomfortable and disturbed about damaging the relationship with us as the customer.Contributions of those Roles to the OutcomeOur abili ty to stand our ground and be vigilant with our information upfront, aided our ability to work with the bank to come to an agreement. To reach this agreement a third party did have to enter the discussions. This third party assisted two sides in gain a final agreement. The process was a roller coaster it was also a learning experience for both sides. In the end, we were happy with the final terms. The bank did make some small mistakes throughout the whole process, and due to their mistakes being presenting in writing, had to honor those terms in the paperwork. We were able to avoid a 5-year ARM agreement, and were able to secure a 30 year fixed mortgage at a very low rate, due to their mismanagement of information. The point is to never quit with a bank. As long as they moderate coming back with counter offers, you do the same. At some point, youll make a deal, and it might be better than you ever expected. Looking back, it is very important to remove your personal emotions from t he negotiations. Emotions need to be under control on both sides to achieve a successful end. If you have ever felt similar you were stuck in a burning high rise with only one way out at times, we know that if you work with the right people, your chances of success increase with every option you have.BibliographyKey Aspects of Communication in Negotiation. Visual Art education and Graphic Design Essay Example for Free

visual Art training and Graphic Design EssayComputer technology has added a new side to all people desiring to broaden their horizons by furthering their commandment. over time the conventional methods of learning have evolved with the advancements in technology. In todays society modern technology makes anything possible, even earning a grad online. This is especially popular for those considering a life story path in graphics figure of speech. However does this mean that a traditional fine humanities education is no longer needed for those who are in pursuit of a degree in graphic design? Typically online colleges advertise visual inventions degrees under the idea that graphics design is nothing more than computer association and creativity. As a result, students graduate lacking the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in the graphics design world. All students looking to earn a degree in graphics design should pursue a traditional artistry degree.Even though anyone is equal to(p) to achieve a graphics degree online, completing a traditional arts degree teaches you the skills that religious service you to achieve the highest level of success. Online education in many instances has too often replaced the core curriculum of art with technology. Many traditional art professors, even in graphics design put technological skills conk on the their lecture list. Instead, concepts of how art and design function and how to express creativity in the art studio apartment environment are emphasized as being the key concepts of a graphics agent education.Over time, knowledge is gained through a series of art drawings, paintings, photography classes, critical thinking exercises, peer evaluations and line solving resulting in students becoming more aware of the mixing of ways to go about go creative ideas into innovative designs. Unfortunately, students who are taught online are not able to grasp the importance of skill beyond technology. As a result the lack of knowledge to express creativity inevitably becomes a liability instead of an asset to a graphics design company.Design is a combination of skill and finding ways to create a visual message to your target audience. The main role of a designer is to communicate a message in the most effective way. Computer programs cannot create the knowledge of the case behind the image, only the designer can. You cannothave technical skills only and expect a program to do the creative work. The computer has revolutionized the design studio, but it will never run it. Traditional art education gives students the opportunity to learn these skills and to execute effective designs through hours of instruction in classes like illustration and typography. Online education simply does not offer students this opportunity and will never be able to substitute these skills with numerous amounts of technology. The last benefit of a traditional arts education is the communication skills you learn and the opposite interactions you have a go at it by attending an actual university. Social skills are harder to learn when you do not attend school. in that location is no curriculum for showing students the importance of social interaction in the career of an artist or designer. Sure you may think that having a discussion board is important but it doesnt compare to face-to-face interactions. In a traditional learning environment you attend classes that create situations where students can and must fall in with one another. Through these environments, the students witness that original design is rarely done alone. Its great groundwork for the truth of the working graphic designer. In the end, knowledge is the measure of success and the more enriched you are in your career field the better communicator you become. Therefore earning an education through a traditional college or university provides students with a variety of skills and knowledge would only be beneficial to those looking to be successful in the graphics design. This is why students looking to earn a degree in graphics design should receive a traditional arts educationWorks CitedSome of the web sites that I viewed while writing this paper are listed below. Most of my knowledge comes from my educational arts background and my previous job, which involved working at publishing company in the art department assisting the graphic designers.1. Describe and explain the value of industrial location models Essay Example for Free

Describe and relieve the value of industrial side stumpers EssayWhat is an industrial location model? 51) A model is a mathematical representation that is used to show why patterns have fall outred, or to predict how things will occur in the future. A location model shows why trustworthy things have localised in certain spaces and aims to show where they will locate in the future. An industrial location model therefore aims to show why industry has laid in the ara it has, and where it will locate in the future. The term industry includes primary, standby, tertiary and quaternary sectors. All sides of industry nookie be incorporated in these models, this includes tertiary and primary as well as secondary employment, although most models argon designed with manufacturing specifically in mind. There are many types of industrial location model. Weber designed a model that showed where secondary manufacturing industry would locate establish on the incubus of raw materials used and the weight of the final product. Smith (1971) built an utility(a) to Webers model, which is more updated and takes into consider new-fashioned types of transport and industries other than secondary. There are also models such as the behavioural matrix which attempt to show what type of companies are more likely to choose the optimum location for their business.Describe and explain the value of industrial location models 202) A model of industrial location put forward by Alfred Weber in 1909 assumes that industrialists choose a least-cost location for the development of new industry. The theory is based on a number of assumptions. Weber assumes that there is a flat relief, provide transport, culture, climate, labour cost, political and economic system, and that markets are of fixed size and location. It is also assumed that transport costs are proportional to the weight of the goods and the distance c overed by the goods, and that perfect competition exists. One of the b riny assumptions is that raw materials are either ubiquitous or localised. Ubiquitous raw materials are suck aground all over and are evenly distributed, and therefore would affect industrial location e.g. water and clay.Localised raw materials are non evenly distributed. Weber suggested that raw materials and markets would attract the location of an industry due to transport costs. Industries with a high material proponent would be pulled towards the raw material. Industries with a low material index would be pulled towards the market. The material index is calculated by dividing the total weight of raw materials by the total weight of the finished product. A material index of much greater than 1 indicates that there is a bolshy of weight during the manufacturing process for example butter making. The factory should therefore locate near to the raw material.A material index of less than 1, where weight is gained during manufacturing, would locate near to the market. An index of less than 1 could be achieved by an industry using largely ubiquitous materials, like water, as in the brewing industry. at once a least-cost location has been established through the material index, Weber considers the effect of labour costs in deflecting industry away from the least cost location. Isodapanes are constructed to determine the area within which an industry can locate without losing money. The critical isodapane is the greatest distance an industry can locate from the least-cost location without losing money. If a artificial lake of cheap labour lies within an isodapane below the critical isodapane, it would be more profitable to choose the pose with low labour costs rather than the least transport costs location. Weber also takes into account agglomeration of industries, the model suggests that some factories locate within critical isodapanes of other factories, to share resources labour and transport costs. Webers model doesnt relate well to modern conditions. This is because it doesnt take into account many recent developments such as reduced costs of transport and government intervention. Weber assumes a lot of things that in reality wouldnt be found e.g. perfect knowledge of the market, and physical geography is ignored. Weber also ignores changes in costs and sources of raw materials over time.Overall Webers model is largely applicable to heavy industries only.In 1971 David Smith provided an alternative to Webers model of industrial location. Smith suggested that as profits could be made anywhere where the total income is greater than total costs, thus although there is a point of maximum profit, there would be a larger area where performance is possible and profit is still made. Smith suggested that industries rarely located at the least-cost location, but more a lot at a sub optimum and practical location. He suggested that this was due to imperfect knowledge close production and market demand, imperfect decision makers, who can be influenced by other factors, or may not act rationally, or a government policy, which may tempt industry to locate in areas of high unemployment or development areas. Smiths model takes into account all types of transport although a circular strand of profitability is rarely produced in real life. Where Webers model can only be used for secondary manufacturing Smiths model can easily be modified to include all types of industry. However Smiths model is based entirely on money and other factors such as employees needs are not taken into account. The UK iron and leaf blade production is a good example of industrial location compared to Weber and Smiths models. before the 1600s, iron making was found near to outcrops of ore, where there were plenty of trees, e.g. Forest of Dean, because transport was poor and they were inefficient to move raw materials large distances. This fits Webers model because iron making would have a material index of greater than one, due to iron ore be ing much greater in weight than the iron produced as the finished product. However Webers model says that a resource such as trees will be ubiquitous, which is not the case here. After 1700 coke began to be used to smelt iron more efficiently. The new furnaces were located near coalmines, where coal would have been the heaviest raw material to transport e.g. Sheffield and South Wales. This fits Webers model. Today the coalmines have run out, but the industry hasnt relocated because good transport systems mean that ores and coal can be transported in from abroad. This complies with Smiths model because profit has been made in a sub optimum location. Other reasons for the iron and steel industry remaining in the same areas are large amounts of labour and agglomeration, which are covered in Webers model.

Town Supports Homeless Assault Victim Essay Example for Free

Town Supports stateless Assault Victim EssayBob Wirtz is a well-known central officeless domain in the townsfolk of Reynoldsburg, Ohio who has lived on the streets since 1979. One night, he was resting on his usual corner when he was attacked from behind while manufacture in a sleeping bag. His face was reported to be smashed and beaten like that of a pumpkin on concrete. No one has been arrested due to the little evidence the police had to go on. Residents of the town found out about this tragic event and it inspired them to do something very special. The corporation raise three-thousand dollars to bay for Bobs reconstructive facial surgery. Citizens of Reynoldsburg hope they can take it one grade further and help get Bob off the streets by finding him a home. (Moriarty)I turn over this attack on Bob Wirtz was a perfect example of the wrongdoing being done to homeless hatful all(prenominal) over America. Not always is a beating the case more a good deal than not a homeless person is simply being taken advantage of, which is wrong. To strike a defenseless man down while he is sleeping is not only unfair still is extremely immoral. This leads me to imagine that the person was either impaired or he had some kind of revenge on Bob Wirtz or homeless people in general. I also believe that the well-grounded system in Reynoldsburg should do everything they can to find and apprehend the person or people that are guilty of attacking Bob. Though there is a bright spot in this town. The fact that the community would donate three-thousand dollars to this homeless man is a step in the right direction and sets a comely example for other cities.Look moresatire essay examples essayBoth modern twenty-four hour period societys fit on homeless people and the donation of money to a silly homeless man support my opinion on the situation. Modern day societys view on homeless people is that they are dirty bums who have nothing better to do in life than to sit on the street and beg for money. This is wrong in that many homeless people do in fact have jobs. Unfortunately, they are just temporarily out of a home and have not yet accumulated enough money to buy one. The donation of money to a poor homeless man supports my opinion because it encourages other communities to reach out and do the same.I believe myself and Mordecai, from The Street Lawyer would have handled the situation in similar ways. My first course of action would be to seek out the person or people who assaulted this defenseless homeless man. Next, though the sum of three-thousand dollars is a good start, I would have pushed for more donations. Finally, I would use the money to buy this homeless man a suitable home because I feel like he is much safer off of the streets. First, I believe Mordecai would have inspired the legal system to make a push for finding the suspects. He probably would have gone about this by constantly pushing and reminding them to complete this t ask because he is a very knaggy individual who does not take no for an answer. When this was completed Mordecai would see to it that, above all else, justice was done. Though very similar tasks were completed Mordecai and I have a very antithetical way of going about things.

Console Games vs PC Games Essay Example for Free

Console Games vs PC Games Es assignlets start with the consoles themselves. Maybe youve heard it before, nonwithstanding some people say PC-gaming is dying. Can PC games still compete with Console games? Gamers occupy never been so spoiled for choice. enchantment the console vs. PC war has been around for ages, consoles today have bridged the gap by finally providing the right way multiplayer capabilities. Is this the end of the PC as the dominant gaming machine? Gaming has been around for a farsighted time. It is serious business nowadays. With a host of companies creating every(prenominal)thing from award-winning games to those collaborating with businesses on workforce training and development, the area is equanimous for continued success. And we are creating this success by stealing all kinds of games. So what is the difference between the make out price of playing games on a console or on a PC? age it is possible to get a PC at about the same cost of a console, it would be such a stripped down version that it wouldnt be able to play the latest games. Consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, PS3 and Xbox360 still offer the best price in terms of gaming power.Even if you buy a 800 pounds PC, it would completely be able to play the latest games for about three years. If you look only at the three biggest consoles, the Nintendo Wii is the cheapest console, starting at about 180 pounds. The Xbox 360 will cost you about two hundred pounds and a Playstation 3 about 250 pounds. Certainly the Xbox 360 and the PS3 would be able to play the latest games for many more than years. Well, there actually is a way to expand the time you hardlyt joint play games on your PC, and it will only cost you more m unmatchabley. A PC has the availability to upgrade. For example, you can change the fine art card for a newer one. This is the most important part of a PC for playing games. This will not cost you as much as buying a total new PC, but in total it will stil l be way more expansive than a console. But one thing is cheaper for the PC-gamers in comparison to for example Xbox 360-gamers and that is that you have to pay to play online multiplayer games on a Xbox. In most situations this will be free for a PC game. So maybe you are ask now if there are any more advances of playing games on a PC alternatively of a console. Of course there are. There are still way more games available for the PC than for consoles. On a PC with windows as operating system, you can play like almost every game that exist for windows, even older versions of windows. But on a console you probably cant play previous generation games. When for example the first PS3 was announced it actually could play PS2 games, but Sony removed this plectrum quite quick. Another reason to play games on a PC is that if you have a very expansive PC it can probably play games with better graphics, but at that point you are limited to the games that are already playable. Future games w ill probably need a better pc to play it on full resolution.A PC is too the only option for playing big online games where thousands of people can meet each other online, like World of Warcraft. This tho isnt possible (yet) on consoles. Youre choice for playing games on a console or a PC can also depent on the controller. Whereas you play with the traditional keyboard and mouse on a PC, you can play with other kinds of controllers on consoles. The Wii is the best example of that with the motion sensitive Wii remote. There is also a different kind of consoles for playing on the road. These are called handhelds and arent very powerfull, but their advantage is their portability.

Criminal Procedure Essay Example for Free

Criminal Procedure EssayOne whitethorn well ask How bottomland you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others? The answer lies in the fact that in that respect are two types of laws nonwithstanding and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has non only a legal but, a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Martin Luther King, Jr.Imagine a perfect society, where the population had a archetype set of rules and followed them. In that perfect society, everyone knew the rules down to a specific science hence, they knew how to obey express rules. Unfortunately in our time, we do not beat a perfect society. Our civilization has lost the cognition of their functions unless either a.) laws were broken by an individual or b.) the individual is studying or examining criminal law. either way, our society unknowingly forfeits their rights in certain situations. On the other hand, ther e are law enforcement ships incumbents who clear sworn to uphold these rights to obtain their position. Some do not know themselves, when they have crossed the cable television of duty or violated a right. It is up to us to break down and identify the rigorousness and righteousness of the military officer metalworker The Gold Pontiac situation we are presented with.Reasonable unimpression is a standard used in criminal procedure, more relaxed than apparent cause, that can justify less-intrusive betes. A liable qualm exists when a reasonable person under the consideratenesss, would, establish upon specific and articulable facts, suspect that a crime has been act (Reasonable Suspicion, Cornell Law School Library 2013). Officer Smith describeed over a gold, older model Pontiac because she observe tape on what she suspected to be broken. One might wonder why Officer Smith pulled the Pontiac over. In most states, the device number one wood is held accountable for faulty equipment of their fomite. Unless the tape is red, reflective and transparent, an officer has every right to pull the driver over and issue a tatter. In my own experience, it is highly kindredly for a police officer to pull someone over if there was an obstruction of a head or taillight. I myself have been pulled over for something similar in which I received a warning or ticket. On her way to the drivers window, Officer Smith remembers the description of a vehicle that was recently involved in a roadside killing of another police officer. That description fit with the Pontiac she had just pulled over. Officer Smith proceeds to ask the driver to wee-wee out of the vehicle so she may extradite a quick swob down for weapons. According to the Fourth Amendment, a justifiable appear begins with reasonable suspicion. In this case, Officer Smith asks the driver to endure a stop and frisk. This means, the officer had the right to ask for a quick pat down of the drivers outer tog in search of a weapon(s). In my belief, the drivers rights were not violated and valid based on the officers request for a stop and frisk. energy illegal has happened between the two. If, during the pat down for weapons, the officer feels a weapon on the individual, the officer then has probable cause to conduct a complete search. (Roberson, Wallace Stuckey, 2007 p.83)In our example, a weapon was not felt or institute on the driver. Furthermore, Officer Smith has now conducted whats known as a Terry Stop. What is the discrimination between a Terry Stop and the Stop and Frisk you ask? There isnt all significant difference. Prior to Terry Vs. Ohio (1968), a stop and frisk protected against illegitimate search and seizure. Where as after, it is come to be known as constitutional according to circumstances where a reasonably curious officer has a valid concern for societies or his/her safety. After the Terry Stop, Officer Smith say the driver to have a seat in the vehicle and asks for their driver license and registration. I would reckon that this procedure is pretty standard in identifying who the driver is and maybe writing out a ticket for the taillight tape. The driver had other plans and speeds away from Officer Smith without giving requested information. It is to my knowledge that Officer Smith has more than reasonable suspicion now. She has probable cause to believe that the driver was in fact, the slayer from the incident shed heard about. With probable cause, Officer Smith proceeds to chase the Pontiac. The chase ends when the driver of the Pontiac hits a telephone pole. You may stop to ask me What is the difference between probable cause and reasonable suspicion? From my understanding of the two, probable cause is grounds for a warrant or for an arrest. Reasonable suspicion is not but, it may be grounds to further investigate or for a police officer to detain a person or vehicle for further investigation (Florida maintain University Law Review, su mmertime (2006), Vol. 33, Issue 4, 1239-1248). Im compelled to agree with officer Smith in this instance. The driver demonstrated intoxicating behavior, presenting exigent circumstances for Officer Smith to give chase to this vehicle. According to The Cornell Law Library, an exigent circumstance is a circumstance that requires an immediate response. It occurs when police officers believe they have probable cause and there is no time to obtain a warrant. (Exigent Circumstance), Cornell Law School Library 2013) Being that the chase ended with a severe crash, Officer Smith did respond immediately to the situation. Furthermore, our scenario goes on to explain that Officer Smith feared that the machine might catch on fire from the leaking gas tank. She pulls out the driver from the vehicle and goes back to get her suitcase for identification. It is then that Officer Smith see to its that the glove box has popped open and in it was a art object with documents on top of it. We are aske d to think about if the spell was in plain view and if it was legitimately obtained? Since I am just a Criminal Justice student, I would have to say optimistic to both. I say that in full confidence because it is legal for an officer to enter a vehicle at the scene of an accident to assist without an issued search warrant. Without rummaging through the vehicles contents, the officer sees a weapon or narcotics. Even with the use of a flashlight, it is still considered legal.Just because something is hidden behind darkness, doesnt mean it wouldnt be seen during daylight, right? The other permissible circumstance regarding the plain view doctrine is, if the officer moves him or herself around to take a look. The object in plain view (without a thorough search) can be seized and is admissible evidence in court. The fact that the gun was seen through the documentation clearly shows that it was in plain view and didnt have to be searched for. Officer Smith goes on to find the drivers p urse. In an attempt to locate the drivers identification, she finds a baggie of Marijuana in the drivers purse. Although I do not believe that this will uphold as evidence in this case, it may present the driver with another set of charges against her. Perhaps the driver may get charged with possession of an illegal substance? However, I really feel that Officer Smith did not have the right to search for anything other than the drivers license, even though she did find the Marijuana in the purse. In my studies it would be considered Fruit of the Poisonous Tree. Although Officer Smith was legally allowed to enter the vehicle without a search warrant and assist in identifying the driver, I believe that the retrieval of the cannabis will not be permissible in court for the reasons Ive stated above. Our scenario also goes on to state that it was later found that this vehicle was not the vehicle involved in the death of the officer. It also states that it was determined that the tailligh t was not in fact broken. One might question or argue at this point, whether the entire scenario is justifiable or necessary? From my point of view it was entirely correct. The officer had a valid reason to pull the car over. She had reasonable suspicion for a Terry Stop. Her reasonable suspicion then turned to probable cause when the driver fled the sight without presenting the officer with what shed asked for. The officer then acted within a liable manner to help the driver out of the crashed vehicle. After all, law enforcement is there to protect and serve our community. The firearm was in plain sight of the officer while she tried to locate the drivers identification. Nothing except the search and seizure of the contents of the purse violated the rights of the driver nor incriminated the police officer. It is in my belief that Officer Smith couldve called for backup or help once she found the scene of the accident. She couldve taken the purse out of the vehicle and even seized th e gun. However, she had time to obtain a warrant to search the purse. In instances like we have just gone through, it is interesting to see just how knowledgeable each player is with their rights and responsibilities. We see these cases often in the news and some do not even make it to trial because either a right was violated or a piece of evidence was gathered with some luxate made in obtaining it. Dont interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.- President Abraham capital of NebraskaReferencesExigent Circumstance Def.1, In Legal info Institute, Cornell Univeristy Law School Libarary. In the book, many of the typesetters cases represents the people that Fitzgerald met in his life, including his own character that represents him. To add on to that, F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Great Neck, Long Island after his first child was born.At the time, the Great Neck was home to many of the wealthiest people on Long Island. A scholar has proven that there are many similarities between the Great Neck and the West Egg. In the movie version, Daisy tells Gatsby that Rich girls dont marry poor boys. This line was taken straight out of Fitzgeralds life. The father of his first love, a young woman by the name of Ginevra King, supposedly told him that after Fitzgerald asked for Ginevras hand in marriage. Measuring Cytotoxicity in HepG2 Cells

Measuring Cytotoxicity in HepG2 mobile phonesMeasuring cytotoxicity in HepG2 jail cells treat with cisplatin or 5-fluorouracil, via menses cytometry as a saloon of effectiveness of the drugs at treating push asidecerIntroductionCytotoxicity is the quality of being toxic to cells, resulting in cell death (Rang et al. 2012). In the majority of therapeutics cytotoxicity is not a desirable characteristic. However, in the treatment of cancer many chem new(prenominal)apy drugs, through cytotoxicity ar designed to selectively induce apoptosis, a blueprint of cell death (Rang et al. 2012).There are three main impresss of cell death, these are apoptosis, autophagy and necrosis. caspase-mediated cell death is the physiological process by which cells are destroyed in a controlled manner (El more 2007). There are quaternary basic steps involved the first is cell shrinkage, blebs begin to form and condensation of chromatin occurs. Next, membrane blebbing occurs and enzymes begin th e process of thermonuclear fragmentation. In the late stages of apoptosis, the cell is broken down into apoptotic bodies which contain the cells components and nuclear fragments. The final stage is the phagocytosis of apoptotic bodies (Ulukaya et al. 2011).One of the main ways in which phagocytes recognise apoptotic cells is the dedicateation of phosphatidylserine (PS). Ordinarily, this phospholipid is found on the inner leaflet of the membrane bilayer, during apoptosis it translocates to the outer leaflet and binds to a PS receptor present on the phagocyte (Wu et al. 2006).In autophagy, targeted components such as organelles are isolated in an autophagosome a form of vesicle with a lipid bilayer membrane. These autophagosomes are degraded by lysosomes (Kroemer, G et al. 2009).Necrosis is often impression of as uncontrolled cell death. However, in that location is an increasing derive of evidence that suggests it is regulated by transduction pathways and other mechanisms (Kroem er, G et al. 2009). It is ca wontd by occurrenceors such as trauma, infection and toxins. It is characterised by the swelling of cells which causes the cell membrane to rupture, resulting in the release of intracellular components. These intracellular components can trigger a local inflammatory response. In pipeline to apoptosis, the phagocytic stage does not occur in necrosis (Golstein, Pierre and Kroemer, Guido 2007). As a result, exsanguine cells and their intracellular components remain at the site of necrosis, this build-up of debris may lead to conditions such as gangrene. delinquent to its detrimental effects, its preferential that necrosis is not produced by therapeutics.Cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil are chemotherapy agents, which both cause apoptosis by interfering with desoxyribonucleic acid via its replication and repair. Cisplatin crosslinks with purine bases in DNA which interferes with DNA repair mechanisms, this conveys that DNA damage is not fixed triggering apop tosis (Dasari and Bernard Tchounwou 2014). 5-flurouracil is an an clippingtabolite, it is metabolised into 5-fluorodeoxyuridine monophosphate (5-FdUMP) which is then incorporated into both DNA and ribonucleic acid and besides inhibits thymidilate synthase (Parker and Stivers 2011).HepG2 cells are derived from the hepatocellular carcinoma cells of a 15 year old, American, Caucasian, male and are epithelial in nature. They are normally used as an in vitro model of human hepatocellular carcinoma (Costantini et al. 2013).Flow cytometry is a powerful tool that allows for the quick speciality and characterisation of procedureicles including cells. A flow cytometer is made up of three main components fluidics, optics and electronics. When a judge is injected into a flow cytometer, the fluidics system is responsible for producing a stream of single particles, this relies on the principle of laminar flow. This allows the particles to be interrogated by the laser beam individually. When a particle passes through the laser beam it scatters light. The amount of forward scatter is proportional to the size of the cell. The side scatter is proportional to the complexity of the cell. If a fluorophore is present, it can be excited by a specific wavelength of light. It will then undergo a Stokes coggle and a different wavelength of light will be emitted which can be measu rubicund by the electronics of the flow cytometer (Macey 2007, Maxwell and Hannon-Fletcher 2009). The fluorophore can be conjugated with proteins such as annexin V which have a cognise high affinity to specific molecules present on the cell surface.Annexin V is a 35.7kDa, calcium sensitive, phospholipid grooming protein. It has a high affinity to phosphatidylserine. The binding of fluorophore labelled annexin V is used as a mutual measure of apoptotic cells by flow cytometry (van Genderen et al. 2008).AimsTo measure the effectiveness of two anti-cancer drugs by measuring the level of apoptosis in a po pulation of HepG2 cells afterwards being treated with cisplatin (15g/mL) or 5-fluorouracil (25g/mL) for 48 hours and compare those to a population of untreated cells via flow cytometry.ObjectivesTo count and fix a population of HepG2 cells onward stigmaing them with fluorescently labelled Annexin V in preparation for analysis apply a flow cytometer. To measure the level of fluorescence in 5000 treated and untreated cells using a flow cytometer as well as measuring the minimal and maximal fluorescence in a shun and positive control.Based on the fact the fluorescence is directly proportional to apoptosis determine which treatment is significantly better and provide evidence from the lit as to why this is the case.MethodsPlease refer to laboratory schedule (Hatch 2014). Following the collection of info descriptive statistics and a one-way ANOVA test were carried out the results of which can be found in the appendix.ResultsThe negative control was used to identify if there was any background fluorescence. In table 1 (found in the appendix) the mean fluorescence for the negative control was 144. Therefore, fluorescence that is significantly higher than this level can be attributed to the excitation of the fluorophore (Alexa 488). traffic pattern 1 Cytotoxicity of HepG2 cells measured as fluorescence using flow cytometry. The bars are means of triplicates, the standard fallacy has been used for the error bars. *statistically significant compared to control (blue for negative, red for positive), pIn figure 1, a greater level of fluorescence was seen for the samples treated with cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil compared to that of the untreated sample. Cisplatin produced the greatest level of fluorescence of the two treated samples.DiscussionThe data used was a class set, some of the data provided was produced by those running the laboratory session as some samples did not contain a pellet which was needed to run the flow cytometry analysis. The five sets of data we re compared with one another, it was found that the releases were statistically significant (pAs mentioned in results, cisplatin showed a greater mean fluorescence compared to 5-fluorouracil, Results were 726 and 540 respectively. see as fluorescence is directly proportional to phosphotidylserine expression, which in turn is a direct measure of apoptosis. It can be assumed that cisplatin produced the highest level of apoptosis and is most cytotoxic to HepG2 cells. Although a higher concentration of the drugs were used (150g/mL) this result has besides been seen in the literature (Brenes et al. 2007).Although it was not stained with annexin V, the negative control showed a mean fluorescence of 144 this is due to auto fluorescence of the cells. The fluorophore which was conjugated with annexin V was Alexa 488. It fluoresces at a wavelength of 488nm, this is within the greenish part of the spectrum. It is well documented that molecules found within all cells, including hepatocytes a lso fluoresce at a green wavelength, the most notable of these are flavins which fluoresce at around 560nm (Croce, Anna Cleta et al. 2007, Croce, Anna C et al. 2014). FAD (flavin adenine dinucleotide) is an deterrent example of a flavin and is a redox cofactor used in metabolism. HepG2 cells are a liver carcinoma cell line. collectable to their cancerous nature there would be a high level of metabolism within these cells and hence, a high level of FAD.The low level of fluorescence seen in the untreated sample is expected as there should be no apoptosis induced by cytotoxicity. Therefore, it is not surprising that the difference between the fluorescence of the untreated sample and the negative control and the treated samples is less statistically significant. In this experiment, only one stain was used in this experiment (Annexin V), this allows for the identification of cells that are cytotoxic. To evaluate the true effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug, the cell viability and necro sis is also needed. Necrosis and late stage apoptosis can be measured using propidium iodide (PI). PI binds to nucleic acids and is impermeable to intact membranes, it is often used in combination with annexin V as it fluoresces red and there is little overlap between the wavelengths of red and green light. Therefore, compensation is not needed after flow cytometry has been carried out.It has been observed in the literature that the cytotoxicity of 5-fluorouracil is dependent on both dose and exposure time (Okamura et al. 2008). We only looked at one dose and exposure time for both drugs. It has also been observed that the use of cisplatin in combination with 5-fluorouracil or other chemotherapy drugs has a synergistic and additive effect in hepatocarcinoma cell lines (Kogure et al. 2004), both of these could be investigated further is the experiment were carried out again.ConclusionIn conclusion, cisplatin was shown to produce a higher level of apoptosis in HepG2 cells than 5-fluo rouracil. However, to fully evaluate the effectiveness of an anti-cancer agent, measures of viability and necrosis are also needed. The differences between the two drugs may be due to the different mechanisms by which the drugs work. The introduction of 5-dUMP into DNA and RNA is a more subtle mechanism compared to the cross-linking of DNA via cis-platin. This cross-linking may be detected by cells more readily resulting in higher levels of apoptosis. As HepG2 cells were used, these results may only be the case for hepatocellular carcinomas.ReferencesBrenes, O., Arce, F., Gtjens-Boniche, O., and Daz, C.
